FEED THE COMMUNITY THANKSGIVING MEALS:

BACKPACK Giveaway

In January of 2023 Unity Athletic Group targeting our hard-working Student Athletes in the District! We were able to hand out over 60 backpacks filled with gear and equipment that our young men and women need to properly represent themselves and the District as they compete in their respective sports. I'm glad we could start the year with some positivity. We’ll continue building programs that foster a sense of community in the District. Blessings in 2023!!!

FEED THE COMMUNITY THANKSGIVING MEALS:

We were able to host a successful Community Thanksgiving  Dinner, where we cooked and handed out over 100 packed dinners to those in need. The Community Thanksgiving Meal is a two-fold project. The first aspect of the plan is for Unity Athletic Group to identify and provide food to individuals in need. The second aspect is to identify five less fortunate families in DC and to provide them with a Thanksgiving Meal. With the Covid Pandemic still looming our already ailing community, this provides an opportunity for the community to begin to socialize with others once again without the burden of the expenses associates with a gathering.

“NEVER LEFT” RIDE ALONG GIVEBACK:

During the Christmas Holiday we also hosted our “Never Left” Bike Ride. Last year we delivered over 120 care packages to homeless shelters and encampments. This year we were able to give out 194 care packages to the homeless.

Thanksgiving Turkey trot

Unity Athletic Group is participating in America's Trot for Hunger in support of SOME (So Others Might Eat)! We hope you will consider joining and racing with us and donating to support this crucial mission.

America's Trot for Hunger raises essential funds and awareness to alleviate hunger in our nation's capital and communities nationwide. Proceeds from the Trot allows SOME to provide services for thousands of families and single adults experiencing homelessness, by providing access to food, clothing, healthcare, employment training, and long-term comprehensive addiction treatment programs. The ongoing COVID-19 pandemic has only increased the need for SOME's vital services and support.

Want to acknowledge all the unity athletic group alumni that are in season. Good luck and keep being great ambassadors of DC. 💯🏀

UNITY athletic group PAST ACHIEVEMENTS

On Aug. 28th 2020 we organized the Unity Athletic Group in March. We gathered to shine a light on recent social issues that affected our community and celebrate the 57th anniversary of the historic March on Washington. A group of athletes and community members marched from Raymond Rec Center in Northwest DC to the National Mall in solidarity of social issues.

ACHIEVEMENTS

THE Unity athletic group PROVIDES MAnY FUNCTIONS THAT BENEFIT THE COMMUNITY.

  1. Athletes develop life skills gained through sport that helps develop athletes into productive citizens.

  2. Brings together athletes of all levels so they can network and gain valuable connections to get into prep school, jr. college, or university.

  3. Community safety aspect: Organized athletics provides community members with purpose and something to look forward to. Being involved in positive activities lessens the chance that the youth will get involved in less productive activities.

  4. Promotes healthy living

  5. Promotes community pride.
